This initiative for all audiences will serve to raise funds for cancer patients in Ibiza and Formentera

The Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer will hold a solidarity gala dinner on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. at La Casita restaurant, located at 38 Carretera de Cala Llonga, on the occasion of its 21st anniversary supporting cancer patients in Ibiza and Formentera.

This event will feature a welcome glass of cava, a three-course menu with wines, beers and soft drinks, and a live performance by The Moonshine Band. An Association that has also financed, thanks to the donations of its many members and the charity events it organizes, the decoration of the oncology nursing consultation room and the Palliative Care Unit consultation room, the acquisition of an endoscope for the Hospital of Formentera, a pilot project for colon cancer screening in the Pitiusas and the hiring of a physiotherapist for the Lymphedema Unit, directed by Dr. Sausan Sayed, in addition to several cars for this Palliative Care Team. This NGO has produced the information brochures of the Oncology Day Hospital, with recommendations for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment, breast surgery and ostomy patients.

These are just some of the tangible deeds achieved by this Association that has spent more than 21 years alongside cancer patients and their families in Ibiza and Formentera .

Golf Ibiza celebrates this Saturday, April 2, the first annual charity tournament for the benefit of Ibiza and Formentera against Cancer

IFCC are grateful for this sports initiative that will serve to support cancer patients in the Pitiusas

Golf Ibiza will celebrate this Saturday, April 2 at 09:00 a.m. the first annual charity golf tournament for the benefit of Ibiza and Formentera against Cancer, IFCC. This tournament, for which there are only two places available, is sponsored by the Consell Insular d’Eivissa and the Santa Eulalia del Río City Council, and will feature five prizes in categories A (first and second), B (first and second ) and Scratch.

During the day, junior golfers will also compete, refreshments provided and a raffle will be held with gifts, all  donated by various sponsors.

The Santa Eulalia Beach Tennis Club celebrates this weekend a charity tournament for the benefit of IFCC

 This sports initiative open to all audiences will serve to raise funds for cancer patients in Ibiza and Formentera

The Santa Eulalia Beach Tennis Club will celebrate this weekend a solidarity tournament for the benefit of Ibiza and Formentera against Cancer, IFCC, which will take place at Cala Llonga Beach on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27 from 09:00 at 19.00 h. A sports event open to all categories that will be held on 12 tracks.

Registration to compete in this event is open to the public for a donation of 20 euros per player, which includes participation in two games, a shirt, a bottle of water and a piece of fruit. The Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer, IFCC, is a non-profit organization, aimed at fighting this disease in the Pitiusas, which since its inception in 2001 has been self-financed with the collaborations of its volunteers and partners and with the fundraising events he has organized, without relying on any government aid or subsidy. Next Sunday, January 19, the ‘Solidarity Hairdressers’ initiative that celebrates its eighth edition in the Peace Park of Ibiza comes to life again. This day, organized by the Association of Neighbors of Es Clot and directed by Pérez Peluquero, will start at 10 am and will run until 1 pm, thanks to the participation of different hairdressers of the island who will provide their services for free and that They will offer haircuts for 5 euros as a donation. Everything collected in this event will go to the Association Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer, IFCC.
This event, in addition, will have an informative position of said Association in which its volunteers will explain how to deal with this disease, will give information on cancer prevention and detection and will disseminate what are the projects carried out by this Pitiusa NGO and how It helps cancer patients and their families in Ibiza and Formentera.
Also this meeting will feature music to liven up the day that will sound while the hairdressers cut the hair to all who are encouraged to attend. “It is an event that every year has many participants, not only because of the solidarity nature of this day, but also because the hairdressers who join this initiative are true professionals,” says IFCC President Helen Watson, who He wanted to thank the Association of Neighbors of Es Clot and Pérez Peluquero for choosing IFCC one more year as a beneficiary of this action.

On August 30, the renowned violinist Linus Roth will return to Ibiza to direct the international festival ‘Ibiza Concerts’ which celebrates its second edition in the Cloister of the Dominican Convent of the City of Ibiza, in Dalt Vila, until September 1. This encounter with classical music will be beneficial and will feature three different concerts, on the same stage. Part of the collection of tickets will go to our Association. A festival that will be present in addition to Linus Roth with his violin Stradivarius, other internationally renowned artists such as the Argentine pianist José Gallardo, the Albanian Kosovar guitarist Petrit Ceku or the German cellist Jens-Peter Maintz. The first concert, on August 30, will begin at 9:00 p.m. under the title ‘Spanish Serenade’, a tribute to the classical music of our country. On June 22, folk music artist Davy Lyons will present his new album ‘Evidence’ in a solidarity concert at the Teatro España, located in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, for the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer, IFCC.

Davy Lyons will launch in Ibiza the debut of his new album, recorded live in Barcelona with his band formed by Juan Pablo Balcázar on the double bass, Nacho López on the violin and Toni Saigi on the piano. The live music of this artist will come to life from 9:00 p.m. in this event in which he will show his most intimate, intense work, loaded with images and with an important poetic density. According to Davy Lyons himself, “this record breathes the alive and renewed tradition, which is what my songs transmit, to talk about stories of daily life with a ballad style”.

This young artist, of Irish origin and settled in Barcelona, ​​regularly travels from small to the island of Ibiza with his family and in this project, says Lyons, “I wanted to recognize, investigate and reimagine the tradition inherited from my childhood and not do a safe and easy three-minute product. ” ‘Evidence’ is an album that combines Irish popular music with a natural sound, elegant style and more modern forms. La plantilla de Palladium Hotel Group recibe la primera formación de Ibiza en materia de detección precoz del cáncer

Parte de la plantilla de Palladium Hotel Group ha acudido esta tarde a la primera sesión informativa para la detección precoz del cáncer, organizada por esta cadena hotelera en connivencia con la Asociación Ibiza y Formentera Contra el Cáncer, IFCC, en el marco de la primera experiencia piloto en Ibiza para difundir entre el personal de una empresa y expertos en salud hábitos saludables de vida y de prevención de esta enfermedad.

Una charla en la que la presidenta de la IFCC, Helen Watson, ha querido agradecer a Carmen Matutes, presidenta del Comité Ejecutivo de la Fundación Abel Matutes y subdirectora general de Palladium Hotel Group, su impulso para dar vida a esta iniciativa que ha matizado “va a marcar un antes y un después en las acciones informativas de otras empresas de las islas a las que queremos extrapolar este tipo de encuentros”. Watson ha presentado a los asistentes un vídeo, protagonizado por ellos mismos en el marco de la campaña ‘Think Pink’ en la que el personal de algunos establecimientos de la cadena participa activamente para recaudar fondos destinados a la lucha contra el cáncer de mama. “Tenemos varias maneras de enfrentarnos a esta enfermedad y debemos hacerlo desde todos los flancos”, ha apuntado la presidenta de IFCC, “con actividades solidarias, como esta con la que ya estáis comprometidos, sometiéndonos a chequeos médicos para detectar la enfermedad en estadios primarios, llevando una vida saludable, invirtiendo en investigación y programas médicos o ayudando a las personas que padecen esta enfermedad y a sus familias”.

Carmen Matutes, quien ha presentado la jornada celebrada en el Grand Palladium Palace Ibiza Resort and Spa, ha añadido por su parte estar muy satisfecha de ser la primera empresa de la isla en impartir este tipo de formación interna, y ha concretado que “para nosotros es un honor poder formar parte de esta iniciativa en la que queremos daros las herramientas para que conozcáis los estadios de esta enfermedad y cómo detenerla a tiempo”.

En el marco de esta sesión informativa ha intervenido la cirujana de Can Misses, Guadalupe Moreno, quien ha desglosado los métodos de prevención del cáncer de mama insistiendo sobre todo en la necesidad de “realizarse mamografías cada dos años” para así, ayudar a los médicos a “poder diagnosticarlo en las fases iniciales”. La doctora ha aconsejado a las asistentes “que nosotras mismas nos palpemos y revisemos el pecho de forma periódica y que, aunque sea pequeño, también hay un porcentaje de hombres afectados por esta enfermedad”, por lo que ha extrapolado este consejo a toda la población. “El tabaquismo es un factor de riesgo, como también lo es una dieta alta en grasas saturadas”, por eso la cirujana de Can Misses ha hecho un llamamiento a los asistentes para que siempre “sigan una vida sana, en la que combinen una dieta correcta y deporte”.
