[av_textblock textblock_styling_align=” textblock_styling=” textblock_styling_gap=” textblock_styling_mobile=” size=” av-desktop-font-size=” av-medium-font-size=” av-small-font-size=” av-mini-font-size=” font_color=” color=” id=” custom_class=” template_class=” av_uid=’av-3a6gp9′ sc_version=’1.0′ admin_preview_bg=”] Golf Ibiza<\/strong> hosted this morning the presentation of the III Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Aid of the Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer Association, IFCC<\/strong>, which in tribute to Helen Watson, its president for over a decade, will be renamed the Helen Watson Memorial.<\/strong><\/p>\n Present at the event were Javier Bonet<\/strong>, Director of Sports of the Consell Insular d\u2019Eivissa; Toni Ram\u00f3n<\/strong>, Councillor for Sports of the Santa Eul\u00e0ria des Riu Town Hall; Xaquelina Ana Perry<\/strong>, the new president of IFCC; Manolo de la Osa,<\/strong> husband of Helen Watson, and the IFCC Executive Committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This event, sponsored by the Consell Insular d\u2019Eivissa and the Santa Eul\u00e0ria des Riu Town Hall<\/strong>, will take place on 11th May 2024<\/strong> and will feature five major prizes<\/strong> divided into three categories: A and B, each with a first and second prize; and Scratch, with a single award, all donated by supportive businesses on the island.<\/p>\n Additionally, throughout the year, Golf Ibiza will host the ‘Sunflower League’<\/strong>, charity meetings aimed at raising funds for this Cancer Association also in tribute to Helen Watson. \u201cWe created this league in honour of Helen, because her favourite flowers were sunflowers,\u201d explained Gail Fear<\/strong>, a member of the IFCC Executive Committee and organizer of these sports events.<\/p>\n During the press conference, the official introduction of the new IFCC president, Xaquelina Ana Perry<\/strong>, also took place. She highlighted the \u201chonour of continuing Helen Watson’s legacy in the fight against cancer\u201d and committed to continuing her work. \u201cWe owe it both to Helen and to the patients,\u201d emphasized the new president of this Association, which annually allocates \u201cbetween 15 and 20 thousand euros in supporting cancer patients in the Pityusic Islands,<\/strong> as well as their families\u201d.<\/p>\n Among IFCC’s projects for 2024<\/strong> are providing more materials and chairs for the oncology and radiotherapy rooms<\/strong> of Can Misses Hospital<\/strong>, as well as continuing with the colon cancer screening project<\/strong>. \u201cSo far, only 24% of the population in Ibiza and Formentera has participated, which is the lowest figure in the Balearic Islands<\/strong>,\u201d highlighted Perry, who encouraged all people between 50 and 69 years old to take this test. \u201cOur goal is to save lives through early detection,\u201d she emphasized.<\/p>\n Finally, the Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer Association presented a new charity number for the El Ni\u00f1o Lottery<\/strong>, having sold \u201calmost the entirety of the two Christmas lottery tickets available at various establishments in the Pityusic Islands\u201d. This new ticket, with the number 84414, can be purchased at the Banca March<\/strong> offices on the island and is already on sale.
