The Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer, IFCC,<\/strong> organized a fundraising lunch last Sunday, May 24, at Sonrojo Beach & Chiringuito<\/strong>, located in Cala Llonga, to commemorate 25 years of accompanying and supporting oncology patients in the Pitiusas. A charitable gathering that included the participation of 84 diners<\/strong>, where gastronomy, live music by the band The Rosemary Family<\/strong>, and a charity raffle came together to support oncology patients in the Pitiusas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Este evento cont\u00f3 con la presencia de la concejala de Acci\u00f3n Social, Familia e Igualdad del Ayuntamiento de Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Marilina Serra<\/strong>, del concejal de Econom\u00eda y Hacienda del Ayuntamiento de Sant Antoni de Portmany, Antonio Mar\u00ed<\/strong>, y del director del \u00c1rea de Salud de Ibiza y Formentera, ASEF, Eduardo Escudero<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

La presidenta de la Asociaci\u00f3n Ibiza y Formentera Contra el C\u00e1ncer (IFCC), Elizabeth Gail Fear, ofreci\u00f3 durante la comida un emotivo discurso de agradecimiento en el que conmemor\u00f3 los 25 a\u00f1os de trayectoria de esta ONG pitiusa y reconoci\u00f3 el apoyo recibido durante todo este tiempo por parte de instituciones, empresas colaboradoras, socios y voluntarios. \u201cQuiero agradecer profundamente a todas las personas que nos han acompa\u00f1ado durante estos 25 a\u00f1os, a nuestras maravillosas voluntarias, a todo el comit\u00e9 ejecutivo de IFCC y, especialmente, a Berno, por ser el coraz\u00f3n de esta asociaci\u00f3n\u201d, a\u00f1adi\u00f3 Elizabeth Gail Fear.<\/p>\n

El dinero recaudado durante este evento ir\u00e1 destinado a financiar los diferentes proyectos que la Asociaci\u00f3n mantiene actualmente en marcha, entre ellos el servicio un servicio de acompa\u00f1amiento dirigido a personas con c\u00e1ncer en la fase final de su vida y a sus familiares, Hospice, en colaboraci\u00f3n con el Ayuntamiento de Santa Eul\u00e0ria des Riu, que se ofrece de manera gratuita a pacientes oncol\u00f3gicos del municipio con una esperanza de vida inferior a doce meses. En este sentido, la presidenta de IFCC destac\u00f3 que \u201cnuestra intenci\u00f3n es comprobar c\u00f3mo funciona este primer a\u00f1o y poder extender el servicio lo antes posible al resto de municipios de la isla, para que m\u00e1s familias puedan beneficiarse de este acompa\u00f1amiento tan necesario\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In recent years, the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer, IFCC, has funded a new car for the Palliative Care Unit, donated reclining chairs for Oncology patients at Can Misses Hospital, 46 new chairs and side tables for the waiting room of the oncology day hospital and the radiology room, as well as televisions and headphones for the chemotherapy room of this reference center in Ibiza and Formentera.<\/p>\n

At the same time, IFCC continues to promote a new campaign among the society of the islands to strengthen the promotion of colon cancer detection, with the aim of improving the participation rate, which was only 28% in 2024.<\/p>\n

This event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer concluded with a charity raffle with prizes donated by collaborating companies from the island, among which are Hyde Ibiza, Mondrian Ibiza, Nami Grill & Sushi Restaurant, Royal Plaza Hotel, Ibiza Clinic, Autos Isla Blanca, The Wild Asparagus Restaurant, Fet a m\u00e0, BeDrinks, Cantonada Ibiza, From Ibiza with Love, Frutos Secos Ibiza, and Familia Mar\u00ed Mayans.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The restaurant Sonrojo Beach & Chiringuito<\/strong>, located between Ibiza city and Santa Eul\u00e0ria des Riu, offered attendees a complete experience by the Cala Llonga beach, with a solidarity menu designed to celebrate this special occasion in a cozy and authentic setting.<\/p>\n

Since its opening in 2023, Sonrojo is integrated into the Ennismore universe, with Hyde Ibiza and Mondrian Ibiza as references on the island, reaffirming its commitment to the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer and other local initiatives that promote the social fabric of the island.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The meal began with a tapa of paella, a shot of salmorejo, and a ham croquette as an appetizer, followed by several shared starters, such as Russian salad with shrimp and tuna belly, Sonrojo bravas with almonds, and Andalusian-style squid with citrus mayonnaise<\/strong>. For the main course, attendees could choose between grilled Ibizan chicken thigh with herbed mashed potatoes and fresh chimichurri, grilled sea bass with creamy carrot and saut\u00e9ed microgreens, or grilled confit artichokes with avocado cream and parsley<\/strong>. Finally, the menu concluded with a selection of desserts<\/strong> to add a sweet touch to this charitable celebration.<\/p>\n

During the event, the band The Rosemary Family<\/strong>, consisting of Mario Romero<\/strong> on guitar and lead vocals, Alfonso Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong> on electric bass and backing vocals, and Samuel de Lara<\/strong> on percussion, were responsible for entertaining this gathering with a mix of Latin rhythms such as salsa and ska, moving through blues<\/em> and rock and roll<\/em>, creating a festive and summery atmosphere with their live music<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
