Comité Ejecutivo IFCC

The president of the Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer Association, Xaquelina Ana Perry, has highlighted the importance of carrying out events like this to continue their work in aiding cancer patients in the Pityusic Islands during their treatments for the disease, transfers for their recovery outside the islands, as well as in providing medical supplies to the Can Misses Hospital, funding chairs for oncology and radiotherapy rooms, and designing and printing informational brochures. “This Sunday, we will also use this meeting to promote our colon cancer screening project, highlighting its importance and our concern about the low participation rate in Ibiza and Formentera, the lowest in all of the Balearic Islands,” emphasized the Association’s vice-president, Berno Kiberd. “We also want to thank for all the support given to us by the Consell d’Eivissa, as well as the town halls of Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Josep,” she stressed.

This will not be the only activity taking place over the weekend to mark World Cancer Day, as the president of IFCC, Xaquelina Ana Perry, will also participate in the events organized by the Sant Josep de Sa Talaia Town Hall under the banner ‘Sant Josep Against Cancer’, which will take place from February 1st to 4th.

Ibiza y Formentera Contra el Cáncer: Projects for 2024

Among the projects of IFCC for 2024 are the provision of more materials and chairs for the oncology and radiotherapy rooms at Can Misses Hospital, as well as continuing to promote the colon cancer screening project to improve the low annual participation figures, which have only reached 24% of the at-risk population. Additionally, throughout this year, the ‘Sunflower League’ will also be held at Golf Ibiza, charity meetings aimed at raising funds for this Cancer Association, in tribute to Helen Watson, who was its president for over a decade. “We created this league in honour of Helen, because her favourite flowers were sunflowers,” explained Gail Fear, a member of the IFCC Executive Committee and organizer of these sports events.
