The outdoor film cycle ‘Cinema at the Beach’ continues this Sunday, August 9, at 21:15 hours, at Cala Llonga beach with the screening of the movie ‘The Croods’ (2013). An initiative sponsored by the Santa Eulària des Riu Town Hall and Cinema Paradiso, in collaboration with the Cala Llonga Neighborhood Association, which takes place during the months of July and August with a program of outdoor screenings that helps establish Cala Llonga as a reference destination for family leisure and culture. Admission is free and all proceeds from the sale of refreshments, as well as donations from attendees, will be entirely allocated to the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer, IFCC.
The solidarity cinema of Cala Llonga for the benefit of IFCC held its first session last Sunday, July 26, with the screening of ‘IF’ (2024), in the original version with Spanish subtitles, and brought together families and visitors who enjoyed an event with the seventh art ideal for all audiences. In this case, ‘The Croods’ (2013) has been the chosen film to bring this second night of cinema and solidarity to life, which will start at 21:15 hours, and will be screened in Spanish with English subtitles
From the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer they wanted to highlight the collaboration of the Santa Eulària des Riu Town Hall, the Cala Llonga Neighborhood Association, and Cinema Paradiso, whose involvement makes a new edition of this solidarity cycle possible. “Every summer we see that cinema can also become a tool to raise awareness, create community, and raise funds aimed at improving the quality of life of cancer patients in the Pitiusas and their families,” they emphasized from the NGO.
‘The Croods’ (2013)
‘The Croods’ (2013), produced by Kristine Belson and Jane Hartwell, and released in the United States on March 22, 2013, tells the story of a family of cavemen who must traverse an unknown fantastic world after the destruction of their cave with the help of an ingenious character.
An animated and family film directed by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders featuring a star-studded cast led by Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman, Clark Duke, Chris Sanders, and Randy Thom.
Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer
The Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer, IFCC, has been working for 25 years to assist patients and families in the Pitiusas during their cancer treatments, as well as providing medical supplies, brochures, or funding for transfers and treatments outside the islands.
This year IFCC, in collaboration with the Santa Eulària des Riu Town Hall, has launched a pilot project called Hospice, a support service aimed at people with cancer in the final phase of their lives and their families, which is offered free of charge to oncology patients in the municipality with a life expectancy of less than twelve months.
In 2025, the Association funded a new car for the Palliative Care Unit, as well as 46 new recliners and new side tables for the waiting room of the oncology day hospital and the radiology room. Additionally, IFCC continues to promote a new campaign among the island’s society to strengthen the promotion of colon cancer detection, aiming to improve the participation rate, which was only 28% in 2024.
In recent years, the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer, IFCC, has donated recliners for oncology patients at Can Misses Hospital, as well as televisions and headphones for the chemotherapy room of this reference center in Ibiza and Formentera.
IFCC has also financed, thanks to donations from its numerous members and the charity events it organizes, the decoration of both the oncology nursing consultation and the Palliative Care Unit consultation, the acquisition of an endoscope for Formentera Hospital, the implementation of a colon cancer and lymphedema screening project in the Pitiusas, and several vehicles for the Palliative Unit.
