Author Angela Bold will present her second poetry collection, “Felicidad”, this Sunday, 13 September, at 11:00 am at a charity event at Teatro España in Santa Eulària des Riu. During the event, the author will share the origins of this new work, inspired by the experiences and words of the people who have been part of her professional life as a massage and beauty therapist, and will read a selection of poems from the book. Copies will be available to buy after the presentation for five euros, with all proceeds going to Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer, IFCC.
‘Felicidad’ is the author’s second published book, following her first work, ‘Yo, tú y los demás’, which she presented two years ago. This new publication grew out of conversations and experiences shared with her clients, who became a source of inspiration for her. “This book was born from the words of a client who told me one day that we, as women, are both perfect and imperfect, and that was when I began to develop the idea for this work,” Bold explains.
The title also reflects the personal journey that accompanied the writing process. As Bold herself explains, “When I started writing it, I thought it would be called ‘Libertad’ [Freedom], because that is what we all want: to be free. But as I wrote, I realised that freedom is not the destination, but the path.” This reflection gave rise to ‘Felicidad’ [Happiness], a work conceived as a search for this state through poetry and everyday experiences.
During the presentation, Bold will speak about the process of creating the book, combining her talk with readings of poems and excerpts from the work, bringing the audience closer to the personal world that shaped this second publication.
A book launch for a good cause
Angela Bold has worked closely with Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer, IFCC, for many years, also supporting the charity through her work as a massage and beauty therapist. The author runs Angels of Ibiza in Es Canar, where she has offered wellness and beauty treatments on several occasions to cancer patients supported by IFCC.
On this occasion, the author has chosen to support the charity once again by donating all proceeds from sales of her book to its work with cancer patients and their families in Ibiza and Formentera.
IFCC has expressed its gratitude to Angela Bold for her continued commitment to the charity and her generosity in turning the launch of her new work into a fundraising initiative. The charity encourages residents and visitors to attend the event and, by purchasing the book, help support people affected by cancer and their families.
About Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer
Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer, IFCC, has spent 25 years supporting patients and their families in Ibiza and Formentera during cancer treatment, as well as providing medical equipment and information leaflets and funding travel and treatment outside the islands.
This year, IFCC, in collaboration with Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council, has launched a pilot project called Hospice: a support service for people with cancer in the final stage of life and their families. It is offered free of charge to cancer patients in the municipality with a life expectancy of less than twelve months.
In 2025, the charity funded a new car for the Palliative Care Unit, as well as 46 new armchairs and new side tables for the oncology day hospital waiting room and the radiology room. IFCC also continues to promote a new campaign across the islands to encourage bowel cancer screening, aiming to improve the participation rate, which was just 28% in 2024.
In recent years, Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer, IFCC, has donated reclining chairs for oncology patients at Can Misses Hospital, as well as televisions and headphones for the chemotherapy room at this referral hospital for Ibiza and Formentera.
Thanks to donations from its many members and the fundraising events it organises, IFCC has also funded the decoration of both the oncology nursing consultation room and the Palliative Care Unit consultation room, the purchase of an endoscope for Formentera Hospital, the launch of a bowel cancer and lymphoedema screening project in Ibiza and Formentera, and several vehicles for the Palliative Care Unit.
